Small Paintings

Small paintings are often more difficult for me than large.

Small moves make big changes and the canvases can easily get very concentrated.

However they also allow me to explore a wider range of visual ideas, motifs and compositions so they often feel more experimental and improvisational to me.

I feel less attached to the initial drawing and I love that when they work I have a little gem that invites close looking.
